dark 'til dawn
61the conception
The dark ‘til dawn series was conceived as a meeting point for the art of American poet Shelly Bryant and Chinese artist Peter Zhou (周宇). By bringing together two distinctive art forms from two different cultures, a unique new work has been forged. Each collectible art piece began with a haiku written by Bryant. Zhou’s paintings and lamp designs were built to give visual impact to the imagery that is central to Bryant’s haiku.
My Lamp
This is the lamp that I am keeping, number 28 of 30. It was hard to choose which one I wanted, but I settled on this one because
• I like all three parts (poem, painting, and lamp)
• I like the way all three parts fit together
• of the lamps that I liked best, it is the easiest to fit into my living space
The poem on this lamp is as follows
hidden from light’s touch
star-lined moonflowers unfold
a lone moth cradled
You can see the PDF catalog of all of the lamps, where the pictures are better.
